History The Company was founded in 1849 by Mazzucchelli family members who, generation after generation and over the past 160 years, are still engaged in research and innovation. Natural materials used at the beginning of its activity gave way step by step to celluloid, the first ‘thermoplastic’ polymer, and afterwards to cellulose acetate. Along with the evolution on materials, the Company started different productions: costume jewellery items, toiletries, hair ornaments, pens, dolls, buttons, sunglasses. Cellulose Acetate, a polymer of vegetal origin coming from cotton linters and wood pulp, is so far the raw material used by Mazzucchelli 1849 who, exploiting an exclusive know-how, manages to create very unique and sophisticated aesthetic effects. Over the years Mazzucchelli 1849 took up the challenge to diversification, distinguishing itself as one of the most innovative companies on the plastics market.
