170 years and still very lively, Mazzucchelli has always been characterized by a young soul, nourished not only by the inspiration which every day leads to the creation of new patterns, but also because it believes in young people and in the power of their thought. This is why Mazzucchelli is honored to be able to collaborate with students experimenting the material for applications known but re-interpreted, this is the case of Carol Muthiga-Oyekunle, a student of the Royal College of Art with whom we cooperated for her thesis.
“The notions of camouflage, defense, duality, masquerade and ‘hiding in plain sight’ are essentially what eye wear design denotes for me. My creative process comes from how I feel my ideas can be best presented in a way that is relevant to the world around me, and that can withstand the test of time; merging heritage, culture, sacred symbolical geometry, digital and analog, technology and sustainability.
The human sense of sight goes far and beyond the physical realm. We have the ability to tap into our “third eye” (the eye of insight and higher consciousness) that intrinsically connects us all to the universe and each other.
This journey of discovery has manifested in the representation of an “Intergalactic, Time Traveling, Woman, Warrior.” Her eye wear is her shield.
The name “CETRA” means “a small light shield” in Latin.”
