Terrazzo

Creative things – craftmanship and fantasy mix together to create extraordinarily creative elements, that can evoke new emotions each time we observe them.

Symbol of a pure classic, the Venetian style Terrazzo is among the oldest flooring styles used in modern architecture. Its origins trace back to Greek floor decorations (river stones were layed down and agglomerated with lime and clay) and the Roman mosaic school.

Thanks to the sensibility of the artisans from Italian Friuli region, this old decoration technique was rediscovered and newly appreciated.

These artisans developped the Terrazzo flooring, using variously coloured pebbles picked near Meduna, Tagliamento and Cellina rivers and named this style “battuto” (crashed).

This techinque became so widespread that it entered the art associations already in 1586. However, no one could ever imagine how famous this idea would become over the following centuries, as it could emblelish the most elegant palaces and most sumptuous houses by using poor materials.

MAYBE THANKS TO ITS HISTORY OR MAYBE BECAUSE OF ITS VARIEGATED AND YET CONSISTENT TEXTURE, OR AGAIN FOR ITS FASHINATING COLOURS, TERRAZZO IS NOWADAYS A REALITY NOT ONLY IN ARCHITECTURE, BUT ALSO IN THE WHOLE DESIGN AND FASHION ENVIRONMENT.

Mazzucchelli 1849 MDecor Terrazzo reinterprets the typical Venetian grits and reproposes them refreshed with highly creative value.

The result is a natural expression of this material's aesthetical sensibility and the know-how of its sophisticated production process.
